Liverpool didn’t have the best of luck with their loaned out players during the first half of the season. However, that could change in the second half – with some of the club’s youngsters starting to catch the eye.
Fabio Carvalho seems to have resurrected his career back on track after going out on loan to Hull City this month. And it’s not just him who is thriving at a new club. Another in Luke Chambers is starting to make a really positive mark at Wigan.
After his first game at the club, his manager, Shaun Maloney, described him as ‘incredible’. Meanwhile in his second game this weekend, Maloney again praised the 19-year-old for doing something ‘very different.’

Luke Chambers keeps earning praise
This time the Liverpool loanee started against Reading, and came up against a difficult opponent in Femi Azeez. But Maloney was once again very impressed by how he stepped up to the challenge.
“Azeez is one of the best wingers in the league, and I felt in this game a lot more secure than I did in the game at Reading. So yeah, Chambers was very good in a very different performance. Northampton, he was aggressive going forward. Today he had to defend,” Maloney told Wigan’s official page.
Of course, even though Chambers predominantly stood-out for his defensive qualities in the game. He shone going forward as well and earned an assist in the process with a brilliant piece of individual skill.
Ultimately, it was that goal which made the difference for Wigan, so the Liverpool youngster more than played his part. By the looks of it, Chambers is off to a great start, and that’s exactly what you want to see. Liverpool have high hopes for him in the future.
