19-year-old Liverpool youngster could be about to follow in the footsteps of Jarell Quansah

This time last year, Liverpool surprisingly decided to recall Rhys Williams from his loan spell at Blackpool in a move that came out nowhere.

Williams had been doing well at Blackpool and playing regular football in the Championship. However, Liverpool had a greater plan for another young academy star, and so Williams was recalled, meanwhile Jarell Quansah left on loan.

Quansah has always been highly rated, and the coaching staff at the time seemed keen to get him some first team experience. He went to Bristol Rovers for the second-half of the season, caught the eye and came back to Liverpool much stronger.

It was a decision and a switcheroo that worked perfect for Liverpool last year. Now the club could be about to repeat the same trick this year.

Luke Chambers on the move

Earlier this month when Liverpool recalled Owen Beck from his loan at Dundee, it came as a surprise to many – just like Williams’ recall was last year.

Beck was doing really well at Dundee, and to cut his spell on loan short so prematurely didn’t seem to make sense at the time – even with two injuries in the left-back position.

However, now that decision is starting to make more sense based on the most recent reports.

According to the Daily Mail, Luke Chambers is set to be loaned out to Wigan Athletic for the rest of the season.

Like Quansah, he will be playing in League One at a decent club and should be exposed to regular first team football. And Chambers will be hoping to use that experience in the same way as Quansah to come back to Liverpool and break into Jurgen Klopp’s senior squad.
