Conor Bradley says 25-year-old Liverpool teammate might just be the ‘best player in the world’ right now

Conor Bradley had high praise for one of his Liverpool teammates after last night’s win over Fulham.

Bradley had a terrific game for the Reds. Having played the full 90 minutes, the 20-year-old caught the eye of former Liverpool captain Jamie Redknapp.

It’s a good sign for Bradley’s upcoming run in the team. With Trent Alexander-Arnold injured for a few weeks, Jurgen Klopp is going to need the Northern Irishman.

On last night’s showing, Conor is well up to the task. But speaking to LFCTV after the 2-1 victory, the right-back admitted that it’s a tall order to replace Alexander-Arnold.

“Obviously Trent’s probably the best right-back in the world at the minute, if not the best player in the world at the minute the way he’s playing,” raved the youngster. “So he’s a big miss for us. I just tried to do everything I can to fill in for him and thankfully we got the win.

“I’m not Trent Alexander-Arnold am I? So, I’m just going to play my game, contribute what I can for the team and hopefully that does us well.”

There will obviously be a great many who disagree, but with the way Trent has been playing recently, he’s got to be well in this conversation.

Not many players are as influential as the 25-year-old. And from full-back no less. He really is one of a kind.

That Alexander-Arnold has been so good only serves to highlight how much they’re going to miss him, of course.

There are other players out at the moment – a large number of them in fact – but none will be longed for quite as much by Liverpool fans as their vice-captain.

Thankfully, the injury doesn’t sound too bad. Hopefully he can be back by the end of January.

In the meantime, Bradley has a big opportunity. The Northern Ireland international has the look of someone who isn’t overawed by nerves. Last night showed that he’s ready to step in.

As the academy graduate mentions though, he isn’t Trent. We shouldn’t be comparing what Bradley offers with what Liverpool’s No.66 servers up week-in-week-out.

If he can keep performing as he did last night, then Conor will do just fine over this spell. From there, he can kick on. Alexander-Arnold will return once he’s fit again but that’s no shame on his back-up.
