There is no denying Liverpool have been dealt a difficult blow with the injury of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Jurgen Klopp’s squad is already sparse – especially in the full-back department.

Finding a way to replace Alexander-Arnold will be tricky for the Liverpool boss. Especially as Alexander-Arnold has been in the form of his life recently.

He’s notched up eight goal contributions in his last 11 games and has been pivotal in making the last month or so an extremely successful one without him.

However, Pep Lijnders speaking in his press-conference ahead of Liverpool’s encounter with Fulham in the League Cup refused to be doom and gloom.

Lijnders explain Alexander-Arnold situation

The Liverpool assistant manager did not deny losing Alexander-Arnold was a blow. However, he assured fans the club will have solutions in place to minimise the impact of his absence.

“We have many weapons. Mo goes away, Jota steps up. If the best players aren’t there and we play well – like the second half v Arsenal – that is a good sign. We don’t rely on one or two, we are missing probably four or five in terms of Robbo, Trent, Mo.” Lijnders said as per Liverpool’s official YouTube channel.

Lijnders did not deny Alexander-Arnold’s ability and just how impressive he can be for Liverpool. He did add though that as long as the system is working fine, everything else is replaceable in the Liverpool team.

“Trent plays passes the forwards like and he knows how to decide games and knows where the put the balls but the squad has other qualities if you ask me. Alexis or Wataru in the No.6, we have to find different dynamics. If Jota is a striker or Nunez, it is different so we find solutions, but this squad has so much talent and power. We always say as long as counter pressing is there everything else can be replaced.”

Lijnders is right. Liverpool have been dealt a lot of injury blows already this season. However, the system has been working well and the Reds have not felt their impact.
