Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo has thanked Kostas Tsimikas for his latest injury update.
Tsimikas looks set for a period on the side lines having broken his collarbone while playing against Arsenal in December.
Reports from this week have suggested that the Greek could be looking at around two months out with the injury.
However, Tsimikas’ Instagram update on Friday would suggest that he could actually be back much sooner than expected.
Sharing a picture of himself running on the grass at the AXA Training Centre, the 27-year-old captioned the post with three encouraging words: “Not long now.”
With Andy Robertson still injured, Liverpool fans in the comments were predictably delighted. So too, it appears, was Gakpo. “Thankyou,” responded the Dutchman.
Tsimikas not far away
It remains to be seen just how long is long where Tsimikas is concerned. This could merely be a generic response from a footballer picking up an injury.
But the flip side is that it could be a genuine indication that Kostas will be back very soon.
Given that Liverpool have recalled Owen Beck to fill-in as back-up at left-back, we’d suggest that it is unfortunately the former.
However, Liverpool do have plenty of games coming up in the next month. They can’t do it all with Joe Gomez. Beck was needed even if Tsimikas is only out for a short amount of time.

So, we’re sticking with Gakpo and Tsimikas’ joyfulness and going with a positive vibe for this one.
Hopefully the Greece international can be back even before Robertson to take advantage of the open spot in the team.
Until his injury Kostas had actually been playing really well. After some criticism earlier in the season, it had been pleasing to see him show his true self again.
The collarbone break obviously put paid to that and must have been a big personal blow to Tsimikas. It would be nice if he could be available much sooner than initially thought.
