‘Are you for real’… Roy Keane stunned by Gary Neville’s prediction for Liverpool vs Arsenal this weekend

Roy Keane has backed Liverpool to at least get on the scoresheet against Arsenal on Saturday.

The Reds drew a rare blank last weekend against Manchester United. The 0-0 at Anfield means they head into their next Premier League match in second place, with the Gunners top.

It’s undoubtedly an enormous game for both sides. As a result, it’s getting plenty of build-up already. Always keen to give their views on things, Keane appeared alongside Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville on the Stick To Football podcast to preview the game.

“I don’t think Liverpool will lose at Anfield,” predicted Reds legend Carragher. “I think it will be 1-1.” Neville went next and although he disagreed with Carra, his own prediction was given short shrift by former United teammate Keane.

“I don’t think Liverpool will win. I think Arsenal will win. But Liverpool are just mad,” said the pundit.

“Liverpool won’t score for two games in a row at home, are you for real?” fumed Keane in response. “Someone has spiked his Christmas dinner!”

Keane takes Neville down a notch

Keane has been in the news plenty following Liverpool’s draw against United last week.

The Irishman is never far away from the headlines. His no-nonsense take on things often feels a little performative though, and it definitely was on Sunday.

Reacting to Virgil van Dijk’s claim that ‘only one team tried to win the game’ between the two giants, Keane accused the Reds captain of ‘arrogance.’

However, the tough-tackling former midfielder can at times give a good and balanced view on things. He did play at the top level for a long, long time after all. He knows good football when he sees it.

With that in mind, it’s nice to hear him backing Liverpool up against Neville.

Of course, only time will tell who is right. But after their team’s 5-1 demolition of West Ham United last night, Reds fans will head into Saturday’s top-of-the-table clash in much better spirits.

Liverpool showed what they can do when not having to break down a team who have simply come to park the bus. West Ham had a little bit of a go, but they couldn’t lay a glove.

Unlike United, Arsenal will also come out with a plan to attack at Anfield. This should suit Liverpool, who will have much more freedom to play. For us, it could go either way. But like Keane, we think the Reds will score. Hopefully they can keep it tight at the other end and take a massive three points.
