Liverpool still have plans for Fabio Carvalho despite his disappointing loan spell this season.
Carvalho has barely played since arriving on-loan at RB Leipzig in the summer, leading to suggestions that Liverpool may recall him in January.
So far, Leipzig haven’t been receptive to a termination of the 21-year-old’s contract. The Bundesliga side even gave Carvalho his first 90-minute run out of the season in Wednesday’s dead rubber against Young Boys.
Nevertheless, The Mirror claim that Liverpool are still looking to bring the former Fulham youngster home.
If they do, the Reds will reportedly look to send Carvalho elsewhere for the second-half of the season. With that in mind, the player himself is said to be ‘open’ to a return to Craven Cottage.
Either way, all this faffing around won’t appear to harm Carvalho’s long-term future at Anfield. Despite his difficult debut campaign and a woeful one this time around, Liverpool are still claimed to be ‘counting on’ the youngster for the years to come.
Carvalho not finished yet
We really hope that Leipzig see sense and relent in their determination to hang onto Carvalho.
Of course we don’t know the exact terms of the agreement between the Red Bull club and Liverpool. But the Reds have the right to be upset with the Portugal U21 international’s lack of game time. And apparently they really are.
He didn’t have the best start to his Reds career last season and he needed a better spell than this to correct it.
Instead, there’s now a real possibility that Carvalho’s confidence is battered beyond repair.

It’s wise for Liverpool to want to put and end to that, and get him back close by before more damage can be done.
With that in mind, a move to Fulham may not be the worst shout. Having come up through the age groups for the Cottagers, Carvalho knows the club inside out.
A spell in Marco Silva’s well-functioning side could be just what Fabio needs.
Beyond that, it’s nice to hear that Liverpool still have plans for him in the first-team. He did struggle last year, but so did the whole team. Carvalho still has a lot to offer and it’s good to hear that the Reds haven’t given up on his immense potential.
