Liverpool are reportedly working on recalling Fabio Carvalho from RB Leipzig, with the youngster hardly featuring for the Bundesliga club this season.

The 21-year-old winger joined the German side on loan in the summer transfer window with the idea of building up minutes in a top European league after an underwhelming first year at Liverpool.

And this season at Leipzig has been much of the same for Carvalho, with the former Fulham wonderkid playing under 300 minutes for the east German side this campaign.

As a result, according to Fabrizio Romano, Liverpool are now working on recalling Carvalho ahead of the January transfer window, with the Reds not happy with how Leipzig have used the youngster.

With Carvalho now approaching 18 months of inconsistent football, the forward’s career could now be in real jeopardy if Liverpool can’t fix this ongoing issue.

However, recalling Carvalho is the right way to go for Liverpool, and the sooner the youngster is back at Anfield, the sooner the Reds can resolve what they now need to do with the Portuguese youth international.

The excitement surrounding Carvalho when the winger first arrived at Anfield last year was incredible, with the forward viewed by many as a superstar in the making for Liverpool.

Yet as we know, things just haven’t worked out for the 21-year-old, and the Reds now have a major decision to make on Carvalho in January.

Another loan move could be the best idea for the youngster, with a drop down into the Championship something that could be beneficial for Carvalho in 2024.

Liverpool shouldn’t lose hope just yet on Carvalho’s future, yet after this loan spell at Leipzig, there could be a cause for concern if the attacker can’t get back to it at another club next year.
