Jurgen Klopp has admitted that he was listening to former Liverpool player James Milner’s comments about him yesterday
Milner opened up a little on his time at Liverpool during an appearance on The High Performance Podcast this week.
The 37-year-old was of course hugely complimentary about his old boss. However, he did share a couple of stories of when he and Jurgen weren’t especially happy with each other.
Nevertheless, Klopp’s reaction was wholly positive. Speaking at Liverpool’s test event for the new Anfield Road stand via Beanymansports last night, the Reds manager said that he couldn’t stop smiling whilst listening to Milner’s recollections.
“James Milner had I think a podcast, had a bit of an insight [about] things that happened in the dressing room,” began the German.
“I was listening to it and actually one of my dreams came true – one of my former players talking about our common past. I couldn’t wipe my smile, that’s exactly what happened. So many great things happened here in the last few years and this team is set up for great things in the future”
Milner makes Klopp’s dreams come true
In fairness to Jurgen, has has spoken about this many times. He’s always said that he and his Liverpool team of the past regularly spoke about coming together and recalling their days of success.
Klopp always commented that their hope had been to be unable to distinguish between what happened year on year, such was the success.
In the end, Milner can probably do that. Having spent eight seasons as a Red, he’s got plenty to look back on, that’s for sure.
Had Klopp had his way, the veteran may still have been around to do that this season.

There have been claims that Jurgen was especially keen to keep his former vice-captain in his new-look squad. However, there comes a time for everything to end.
The atmosphere within the squad has reportedly changed dramatically since Milner and Jordan Henderson’s exits in the summer.
That doesn’t mean to say the two stalwarts aren’t missed – of course they are – but things have moved on without them.
There’ll come a time when the same applies to all of Klopp’s great ‘Liverpool 1.0’ stars and then even Jurgen himself. When that sad day arrives, we’ll look forward to hearing more reunions and more stories shared of a special time at the club.
