Reported Liverpool target Leroy Sane has opened up on what he’s been talking to Bayern Munich about recently.
Sane has emerged as a genuine option for Liverpool as they plan ahead for next summer’s transfer market. With his contract due to end in 2025, there has been speculation that he may leave Bayern.
Now, in quotes via journalist Fabrizio Romano on X, the 27-year-old has admitted that the German champions have been trying to get him to sign a new deal.
For now though, it seems Sane is purely focused on having as good a season as possible.
“I haven’t given it any thought yet,” says the forward. “The club wants to have talks, but at the moment I want to focus on this season.
“FC Bayern remains my first point of contact, there’s no doubt about that.”
Sane delays Bayern talks
In one way, this could be seen as being good news for Liverpool. Sane is publicly stating that he isn’t ready to commit to his current club any further.
Having been lauded by Harry Kane as one of Bayern’s best players this season, that will perhaps be cause for concern in Munich.
There have also been rumours that Manchester City are wanting to buy their former player back. And if Liverpool can’t allow that to happen, then Bayern will be desperately trying to avoid it, too.
After signing from City for £55m in 2020, Sane hasn’t always delivered for the Bundesliga giants. But this season, that has changed.

Linking up beautifully with Kane, the Germany international already has eight goals and six assists in 11 league games this season.
Finally starting to see a true return on their investment, Bayern will be wary of losing Sane now.
As a result, you can understand their urgency to get him tied down as quickly as possible. The longer the player holds out and they fail to do so, the louder the links to Liverpool and City will potentially grow.
We still have the feeling that Sane will eventually sign on in Munich, but his comments here certainly leave the door to other options open, too.
