Alexis Mac Allister’s Dad appears to have enjoyed watching his son play with one Liverpool player in particular this season.
Before and after his move to Anfield this summer, Alexis’ Father Carlos has often appeared in the press. A former footballer – and a former politician – himself, Mac Allister senior isn’t shy of an interview or two.
This time, the former Boca Juniors defender has been speaking to the Liverpool ECHO ahead of his two son’s facing each other in the Europa League tomorrow. And from his words, it’s clear that Carlos is enjoying the form of Liverpool’s newest hero – Dominik Szoboszlai.

“Both, Alexis and Dominik have entered the team in a good way,” the 55-year-old says.
“We hope they can still develop because a club the size of Liverpool demands a lot. The expectations are always high. They demand to be at the 100%.
“When you lower your level you lose your place. So, you have to work a lot and always train to be in the best way.”
Great mentality, and a clear sign that Alexis – as well as Szoboszlai – is the perfect fit for Liverpool.
Mac Allister snr impressed with Szoboszlai
It’s fair to say that Szoboszlai has made quite the impression on his new club already.
Although he perhaps wasn’t at his eye-catching best against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, the Hungarian was still involved in just about everything Liverpool did. The fans love him already.
Having typically kept on running right to the bitter end, it would a surprise to see Szoboszlai back in the XI for tomorrow’s clash with Union Saint-Gilloise.

But at the moment, plenty will be switching on Reds games purely to watch their new No.8. He’s genuinely been that good. It would be shame not to see him in action again, even if he does need a rest.
As for Mac Allister, he’s also been impressive, if in a more understated way.
With Wataru Endo also showing glimpses of his quality and Ryan Gravenberch starting to settle in, it looks like Liverpool’s summer recruitment was a resounding success.
As the Reds prepare for the next three Premier League games without Curtis Jones, there’s a chance for all four to come into their own even more. But no matter how good the trio of new boys are, you can expect Dom to step up and outshine them all.
