The father of Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister will be at Anfield to watch his son’s play each other on Thursday.
It’s a big week for Mac Allister. As well as facing his brother, Kevin, in the Europa League on Thursday, the 24-year-old is set to take on former side Brighton on Sunday.
Both will be emotional occasions. But for obvious reasons, the game against Union Saint-Gilloise at Anfield is a huge one for the Mac Allister family. With that in mind, Alexis’ dad, Carlos, has been speaking to Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad about the match.

“We are all very happy that we can see Kevin and Alexis together on the field again, even if it is now as rivals,” said the former Argentina international.
“And I will also be there in Liverpool on Thursday, together with my current partner. I am looking forward to it, because I know Anfield, I have already been there.
“Will I advise my sons? No, that is the job of their trainers. I don’t want to interfere too much. I especially hope that they enjoy playing against each other.
“Will I shed a tear when they walk onto the field together? I hope not, but that is quite possible. What I expect? Liverpool have many world stars, but Union play very good football. Nothing is impossible.”
Mac Allister’s gear up for big day
The only thing stopping the Mac Allister’s from lining up against each other on Thursday is whether Jurgen Klopp actually plays his No.10.
So far this season, the former Brighton man has started every one of Liverpool’s Premier League games.
But he came off the bench in the opening fixture of the Europa League and sat out the entirety of last week’s Carabao Cup win over Leicester City.

With Ryan Gravenberch, Wataru Endo and Harvey Elliott needing minutes, there’s a chance Macca doesn’t make the XI again.
Klopp also has to juggle what he does with Curtis Jones. Unless Liverpool’s appeal against his red card on Sunday is successful, the 22-year-old will miss the Reds’ next three domestic games.
As a result, it seems likely that Jones will play the full match on Thursday, in a bid to retain his match fitness.
On the other hand, Klopp is a big softie. He’s obviously aware that Alexis’ brother is in the opposition, and although he won’t base his team off of that, hopefully we still see the Mac Allister’s on the pitch together at some point. Either way, Liverpool will be expecting to win.
