Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool may still be active in the transfer market on deadline day.
The Reds look set to complete the signing of Ryan Gravenberch, who’ll join from Bayern Munich. But with fans still keen to see a centre-back brought in too, they’ll be crossing their fingers for more business.
And while Klopp wouldn’t comment on Gravenberch’s imminent move in his press conference today, he did give an interesting answer when asked if there’d be further activity.
“It’s deadline day, I don’t want to kill the excitement of the people!” smiled the Liverpool boss. “You never know, but I am busy today with other things.”
By ‘other things,’ Klopp presumably meant setting the team up for Sunday’s game against Aston Villa.
Having confirmed that Liverpool will be without Ibrahima Konate and Thiago Alcantara this weekend, the manager does have something of a small-ish squad to choose from.

If Gravenberch is registered before 12pm today, the 21-year-old will be available to help with that.
In terms of other incomings though, things are very quiet this morning. There is still hope that something can be done in terms of a centre-back, but that looks unlikely right now.
There has been a new link – to Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil. But with all due respect to both Sunderland and Neil, that isn’t one that’s going to get Liverpool fans off their seats.
Either way, Klopp does tend to flat out state when the Reds’ business is done in the window. As a result, his response here is unexpected and fascinating. Time will tell what he really meant, we’ll soon find out!
