Jordan Henderson is on the verge of leaving Liverpool after completing a medical with Al Ettifaq.
Henderson had left the Reds training camp in Germany earlier this week, having agreed to join the Saudi Pro League side. With Liverpool accepting an offer of around £12m for their captain, he was free to go.
And now, The Athletic report that Henderson’s exit after 12 years at Anfield is another step closer.

The 33-year-old is reportedly set to sign a three-year deal with Al Ettifaq, after undergoing a medical in Manchester. It’s claimed that Henderson will now await final paperwork going through, before joining his new team next week.
The Athletic report that the Saudi side, managed by former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, are currently at a training camp in Croatia. Once his paperwork is complete, Henderson will reportedly join them there.
Henderson set to end Liverpool stay
Well then, it’s over. With the medical safely navigated, we’d expect an official announcement of Henderson’s departure isn’t too far away.
And so ends one of the most controversial transfer sagas of Liverpool’s recent history.
It wasn’t supposed to be this way. There’s an alternate reality where Jordan sees out his last two years on Merseyside as captain, perhaps lifting another trophy or two along the way.

After that, the £140k-a-week skipper is afforded a heroes goodbye in-front of a packed Anfield. Not a dry eye in the house.
Having chosen a different, somewhat less glorious path, Henderson is going to have to live with the fact that that will now never happen.
There’s every likelihood that the England international will be back at Anfield in some capacity in the near future. It would be strange if he wasn’t really.
But after dividing the fan base with the nature of his departure, he may now no longer be the hero he once was. It really shouldn’t have ended this way Jordan, but all the best.
