Liverpool aren’t currently in negotiations to sign rumoured transfer target Federico Chiesa.
The Reds have been named as one of the teams interested in signing Chiesa from Juventus this summer. Latest reports from the Italian press have suggested that the 25-year-old is in fact ‘destined’ to leave Turin.
According to journalist Fabrizio Romano though, it would take ‘big money’ for the Old Lady to sell Chiesa. Writing in his Daily Briefing, Romano also claimed that he’s unaware of any active interest from Liverpool.

“Juventus would only sell Chiesa for big money, around €65/70m [£56-£60m]; otherwise they’re more than happy to keep him,” he says.
“I’m not aware of any negotiation with Liverpool. Aston Villa asked for him two weeks ago but no chance, they’re now signing [Moussa] Diaby.”
Liverpool not active in Chiesa chase
As Liverpool focus on midfielders this summer, a move to sign Chiesa has always seemed relatively unlikely.
The forward has been a previous target though, and is seemingly available for the right price. As a result, the Reds could have him in mind to some degree.
Until they get their Fabinho and Jordan Henderson replacements sorted though, you’d imagine Chiesa would be on the back-burner.

Seen through that lens, Romano’s update today doesn’t necessarily put any nails in any coffins. But it is clear that Liverpool have other priorities.
Should they get those things sorted in good time though, we’d like to see them push forward for Chiesa.
Although Juventus are seemingly after ‘big money’ to let him go, it’s also obvious that the Italy international isn’t especially happy right now. A falling out with manager Max Allegri means his importance to the team has declined, too.
So, although the £55m+ price-tag looks quite hefty, it could be that the Reds are able to whittle this down a bit. If they can, it may be a really smart piece of business. He may not be in the best of form, but there’s a real player in Chiesa still. Maybe that’ll still be enough to persuade Liverpool to make a move. For now though, there’s nothing imminent.
