Report: Liverpool bid up to £84m for Federico Chiesa this summer

Liverpool bid a considerable amount for Federico Chiesa this summer, according to reports. The Reds clearly value the Juventus winger highly.

This comes from Italian newspaper Il Giornale. They claim that Liverpool bid up to £84m in an attempt to sign Federico Chiesa.

They weren’t the only ones, however. Bayern Munich were making similar offers in an attempt to convince Juventus. The Old Lady rejected every bid, however.

But the outlet makes it clear that Juventus’s reluctance is merely their current stance. The future may be different and, perhaps, these clubs come back in 2022.

Chiesa has seen his star rise significantly in 2021. His performances at Euro 2020 were fantastic and it’s form he’s carried into this season.

Juventus have struggled as a unit but Chiesa is earning them results. He scored an equaliser against Spezia in a game Juve went on to win 3-2. The 23-year-old then got the winner against Chelsea before registering an assist for the winner in the Turin derby.

His assist for Italy against Spain in this international break got fans talking, too. There’s a real sense that Chiesa could soon be a superstar.

Liverpool make Chiesa bid

Given how little Liverpool actually spent over the summer, this feels unrealistic. At the same time, we know that the club will put large amounts on the table for the right player and avoid signing alternatives is the move doesn’t happen.

Chiesa is proving himself to be well worth £84m, too. It’s not beyond the realm of possibility, then, that Liverpool did make an approach like this.

Though, we’re not surprised one bit that Juventus would turn it down. We don’t see them selling Chiesa, not when he’s turning into their star man. They’re just not a club that typically lets go of its best players unless they have a new direction in mind.

So we’re not going to hold our breath on this one for several reasons. It would be a bit of a dream signing if Liverpool did make it happen, though. There’s no doubting that.
