Portsmouth are willing to wait until the very end of the transfer window to try and sign Liverpool youngster Harvey Blair.
Blair has been seen as a good prospect around Liverpool for some time now. However, the 19-year-old has failed to really kick on since making his first-team debut in October 2021.
As a result, a loan spell could be just what he needs to continue his development. And according to Portsmouth based outlet The News, Blair could be in-line to secure one.

They claim that Portsmouth are keeping an eye on the youngster with a view to a move. The League One side may not show their hand immediately, though. Pompey are reportedly ‘willing to wait’ until towards the end of the transfer window before making an approach.
In fact, it’s also claimed that the South Coast side may wait even longer than that. With some reservations over whether Blair is ready for a season in the third tier, they’re said to be pondering leaving the Liverpool man where he is for 12 months.
Should they do that, it may not be curtains for Blair’s loan move, though. Burton Albion, Leyton Orient, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Reading are all reportedly ‘admirers’ of the youngster.
Portsmouth weighing up Blair loan
It would seem like the perfect time for Blair to look for a temporary transfer away from Anfield. He had a mixed campaign last year, with injuries playing a part in his struggles.
But he still found the form to be labelled ‘excellent’ by Liverpool U21s coach Barry Lewtas.
On his day, the winger can be a real thorn in the side of the opposition. Five goals in 16 Premier League 2 games last season is testament to that.

Now, having had a small taste of senior football at Liverpool, he needs to go and prove he’s ready for the step up.
With the best will in the world, it looks unlikely that Blair will make the grade at Anfield. But he’s obviously got the tools to have a career as senior professional.
Bearing that in mind, his next step is incredibly important. Fellow youngster Leighton Clarkson has just seen what wonders a good loan spell can do and Blair should hope to follow his example.
Wait too long though, and he could stagnate and be forgotten about in the Liverpool youth team. Hopefully the young man gets his move and can kick on from there.
