Liverpool academy winger Harvey Blair scored a sensational solo goal last weekend as the Young Reds hammered Wolverhampton Wanderers 5-1.
Blair posted a video of his goal on Twitter, rightfully showing off what was a brilliant piece of play.
Picking the ball up in his own half and skipping past a challenge, the 19-year-old then charges between the Wolves centre-backs towards goal. The defenders manage to recover but only to see Blair turn them inside out and finish into the bottom corner.
It put the cherry on an excellent win for Liverpool U18’s. Striking sensation Oakley Cannonier again got the headlines, his brace took him to an incredible 40 goals for the academy this season.
But Blair played his part too, claiming an assist to go with his goal as the youngsters ran riot.
Pre-season places up for grabs
It came as a bit of a bolt from the blue when Jurgen Klopp included Blair in his squad for the Carabao Cup fourth round tie with Preston North End in October. Even the player himself was shocked. But he has been called up to senior training at times this term.

The Reds aren’t short of talent in the underage squads at the moment, and there are a few who seemed more likely to get some gametime.
But Jurgen had clearly seen something in the player that he liked, and it was Blair who got the nod on Liverpool’s right.
As it panned out, the young winger had a difficult time of it against Preston, struggling to impose himself on the game. In terms of first-team involvement, there hasn’t been a sniff since then.

With a pre-season tour in Asia to come in the summer though, Klopp will be casting an eye over which academy players will be making up the squad.
Blair has managed to grab the manager’s attention in the past. A few more goals like this one and he could well find himself on the plane with the first-team.
