Arthur Melo would prefer to stay in the Premier League upon leaving Liverpool later this month.

The Brazilian is set to head back to Juventus when his contract at Anfield officially expires at the end of June. Having played just 13 minutes for Liverpool during the season, his loan move has been a total disaster.

You couldn’t really blame Arthur if he wanted to put it all behind him and never return to England. But according to The Daily Mail, the 26-year-old actually wants to do the polar opposite.

They claim that Arthur is looking to ‘have another crack’ at the Premier League, having failed to appear in the competition during his time at Liverpool.

Said to be ‘keen’ on leaving Italy this summer, there are reportedly two English sides ‘waiting in the wings’ to bring him in.

Arthur looking for Premier League return

Arthur’s stay at Liverpool could hardly have been much more of a waste of time. His failure to play even a single minute of Premier League football is a damning indictment on the Reds’ transfer policy of last summer.

It looked a strange and panicked signing at the time and, unfortunately, never became anything other than that.

That isn’t to say that Arthur isn’t a decent player, though. He’s shown that he can play at a high level in his career up to this point and really impressed coaches at Liverpool with his attitude and application.

His willingness to come back to the Premier League after such a disappointing period speaks to that. Any interested clubs would surely get a glowing recommendation from Jurgen Klopp, too.

Certainly, you’d imagine Arthur would cost a fair bit less than the £32m fee Liverpool could have signed him for this summer.

For a nominal fee, the Brazil international is surely worth a punt for someone.

From our point of view, it was a shame that Arthur never got even the smallest chance to show what he can do at Liverpool. It would be great to see him get his move and get his career back on track.
