Liverpool have decided that Khephren Thuram will follow Alexis Mac Allister as their second signing of the summer.

Mac Allister was announced as a new Liverpool player yesterday, joining in a bargain deal from Brighton. But he’s highly unlikely to be the last midfielder the Reds bring in.

Rumours have been rife that Liverpool are pushing hard to sigh Thuram. And according to TalkSPORT today, Jurgen Klopp has now decided that the 22-year-old should be next on his hit-list.

They claim that Thuram has been identified as the next player through the door at Anfield.

Additionally, it’s reported that Liverpool are also ‘exploring’ a move for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone. However, it’s unclear whether this is as a fall-back for Thuram, or as well as the Nice man.

Thuram becomes Liverpool’s priority

This is the latest of a glut of overnight reports to have put Thuram right at the forefront of Liverpool’s thinking in the market.

The France international was previously thought of as an option for the Reds. But since it became clear that Mac Allister was signing, an urgency around his arrival seems to have set in.

In truth, the same could also be said of Kone, who is another to have reportedly entered talks with Liverpool.

Until now, it’s been unclear which was the priority for Liverpool. Talks seem to have gone further quicker with Thuram, but quite what that means isn’t necessarily clear.

But now, it looks like Thuram really is Klopp’s number one target to add to Mac Allister.

With Liverpool looking to work quickly to get signings sown up, and other clubs also keen on Khephren, this could now move even more quickly.

Both Thuram and Kone are set to play for France at the upcoming U21 European Championships. That tournament kicks off on the 21st of June. If either of these two moves are going ahead, we think they’ll be done before then.
