Brighton will be disappointed that Liverpool are set to sign Alexis Mac Allister for under his market value.
That’s the view of TalkSPORT pundit Simon Jordan, who has decried the fact that the Seagulls haven’t been able to secure ‘top money’ for their player.
The pundit was reacting to yesterday’s news that Liverpool look set to sign Mac Allister for ‘way less’ than £60m. And it’s fair to say that he wasn’t too impressed with the Reds.

“I don’t think Brighton have particularly tied him up have they, what did they achieve? You’ve got a World Cup winner coming back, they tied him up to be able to give him to Liverpool at a properly below market value,” Jordan railed.
“I imagine they’ll be a little bit disappointed with the situation because it’s happened rather quickly. I thought that we’d got Mac Allister tied up in a situation where someone was going to have to pay top money for him. Top money. I’d have wanted more for him. I want these big clubs that come along and take everyone else’s vision and don’t do it themselves, to have to pay the prerequisite price for it.”
Liverpool set for Mac Allister bargain
To be quite honest, you won’t find any sympathy for Brighton from us. Had they not signed Mac Allister to a new deal at the back end of last year, he’d be leaving on a free transfer right now.
In that kind of scenario, the player holds all the cards. Either the Seagulls agreed to the lower release clause, or he walks for nothing.
So often hailed as a club who do everything right, this was an oversight. Just because Liverpool are a bigger club than Brighton, they don’t owe them anything.

Still, it hasn’t been officially announced that Mac Allister is joining the Reds, let alone how much they’ll pay for him.
As of yesterday, Brighton sources like journalist Andy Naylor were still denying that a move was in the works at all.
But transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has been the man for Liverpool fans throughout this saga. He’s been adamant that the Reds are set to get a bargain on the Argentine. He even claimed on Twitter yesterday that Liverpool could get Mac Allister for less than £45m. That would be one heck of a deal.
As a club, Brighton tend to overprice their players more than any other. Subsequently, it would feel good to get one over on them here. Don’t worry Simon, we’re sure they’ll get their money back on their outrageous £100m valuation of Moises Caicedo.
