Liverpool could now have to pay as much as £100m to sign Moises Caicedo this summer, with Brighton & Hove Albion keen to keep hold of the 21-year-old.

According to Goal, the Reds are interested in the South American wonderkid as a potential summer signing, however, there is a real prospect that Liverpool could have to break the £100m barrier to bring in Caicedo in the window.

Alongside Alexis Mac Allister, Liverpool are ready to spend big on at least three midfielders this summer, with Caicedo another target for Jurgen Klopp as the German manager looks to completely overall his central ranks for next season.

With Caicedo recently labelled as a ‘super talent’ by Danny Murphy, hype around the Ecuador international is at a fever-pitch, and for Liverpool, they could now have to break the bank to bring the Brighton superstar to Anfield in the coming weeks.

Indeed, whilst interest is high in Caicedo, particularly from Arsenal, the Merseyside giants still have a chance in landing the midfielder. However, Brighton’s £100m asking price could easily throw Liverpool off their scent in the summer.

Liverpool can’t afford Caicedo if Brighton make £100m transfer demand

Caicedo has enjoyed a stellar season that has seen his price tag balloon into something few clubs in Europe will now be willing to afford. And for Liverpool, they can’t afford to be roped into a transfer battle for the midfielder if Brighton stick to the new figure.

Whilst Caicedo could add a lot to Liverpool’s midfield, £100m is the sort of asking price that turned the Anfield side off from signing Jude Bellingham, and fronting up that kind of money for the South American will bring about a lot of questions from supporters.
