Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham will join Liverpool this summer, if it isnât a question of money.
Thatâs according to journalist Christian Falk. Speaking to Give Me Sport, Falk suggested that money may be the only factor that stops the Reds from landing their top transfer target.
âIf itâs not a question of money, it will be Liverpool,â he said. âBut Liverpool already know if he has an eye on the money, it could be another club.â
With Manchester City and Real Madrid also circling, Bellingham could probably earn more money elsewhere. Despite that, Liverpool seem to be right there in the race. Go with your heart, Jude!
Bellingham race moves forward
Today has been a relatively big day for Bellingham updates so far. First, Florian Plettenburg confirmed that talks had now taken place between Liverpool and the playerâs camp.
Jan Aage Fjortoft then corroborated that information, claiming that Real Madrid have been informed that Liverpool are in discussions with Bellingham. And now comes Falkâs own update.
Of the three, perhaps Falkâs is the one that should excite Liverpool fans the most.
It has always felt as though money isnât what will motivate Bellinghamâs decision. But even if it isnât, itâs not a given that Liverpool would then be his choice.
The 19-year-old could well choose Manchester City or Real Madrid for sporting reasons. Both would, regrettably, offer more chance of silverware than the Reds currently do.
So, with that in mind, Falkâs update could be really important.
If money would be the only thing standing in the way of Bellingham joining Liverpool, then the Reds should find that money.
Today Deloitte revealed Liverpool as the third richest club in world football based on last seasonâs revenue. Yes, they are behind their two rivals here. But that shouldnât be a factor. The money is there in some shape or form. If they can guarantee this to Dortmund and to Bellingham, nothing should stand in their way.
