Liverpool are still confident of signing Jude Bellingham after holding talks over a summer move.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenburg. Writing on Twitter this morning, Plettenburg claimed that Liverpool ‘bosses’ are ‘optimistic’ to sign him at the end of the season.
The journalist reports that talks have taken place between Bellingham and the Reds. However, Plettenburg notes that Jurgen Klopp is still yet to speak to the player personally. He also claims that no official offer has been made from Liverpool.
Despite this, talks appear to be progressing nicely between the parties. Liverpool are said to have even offered Bellingham the possibility to become the ‘new Steven Gerrard.’ Interesting.
Talks take place for Bellingham
On the face of it this looks like a really positive update from Plettenburg. Finally things look to be moving a little in regards to Bellingham.
By the looks of things an agreement is still some way away, but it’s great to hear that talks are being held.
Of course, dealing with Bellingham and his family may turn out to be the easy bit for Liverpool. They have long been said to be ready to throw everything they’ve got at convincing him to join the club.
The Steven Gerrard ace is a smart one to play given the 19-year-old’s love of the Reds legend. Plus the Klopp factor is one that can’t be ignored. Jurgen’s magnetism has convinced plenty of players to move to Anfield already.

So, Liverpool fans should certainly be hopeful that Bellingham can be persuaded of the merits of joining the club.
Where things have always been slated to get tricky is whilst trying to strike a price with Borussia Dortmund.
At the last count, the German club could be looking for as much as £140m for Bellingham. That would blow Liverpool’s current transfer record right out of the water.
But with today’s report from Deloitte placing them as the third richest club in the world, they shouldn’t have too much trouble. Unfortunately, the other two clubs seriously in for Bellingham – Manchester City and Real Madrid – are the two ahead of them. The race continues.
