Liverpool have set the Jude Bellingham money aside, according to reports. The Reds hope to sign the player this year.
The Reds do have plans to sign other midfielders, it should be side. The report names quite a few and suggests Liverpool want to bring in someone this month. That gives them roughly 15 days to do it.
However, they won’t risk the Bellingham transfer by dipping into those funds. That money is for the Englishman and no one else – severely limiting the available funds this month.
Liverpool and Jude Bellingham
Liverpool do desperately need a midfielder this month but we don’t see how they can go about this differently. We’re assuming that going all-in on the player means they believe Bellingham would head to Anfield even without Champions League football.
Because it doesn’t exactly look likely that they end up with it next season. That has another effect – a massive cut in the available transfer funds. Thus if the money is there for Bellingham now, it makes sense to hold onto it because things could get sticky in 2023.
So obsessive, he says, that they’re passing on a move for Enzo Fernández in order to prioritise Bellingham in the summer. The Argentine just won the World Cup as the Best Young Player – so he’s not exactly bad himself.
Liverpool, though, will do all they can to sign Bellingham, even if it means giving up on this transfer window. It’s a risk that not everyone will agree with but actually securing the Borussia Dortmund midfielder could change that.
