Reported Liverpool target Moises Caicedo is missing from Brighton & Hove Albion’s squad to take on Arsenal this evening.
The midfielder is reportedly firmly on Liverpool’s radar as they look for a new midfielder this January. As a result, eagle-eyed supporters may have been getting excited at his omission from the matchday squad.
However, as per sussexexpress.co.uk, Caicedo is merely suspended for the New Years Eve clash at the Amex Stadium.
Sorry to burst your bubble Reds, but this clearly isn’t an indication that a move is imminent. Usually such a key player for Roberto De Zerbi, Brighton felt his absence immediately. Bukayo Saka scored in the second minute of the game for Arsenal, who are now 2-0 up at half-time.

What’s the latest on Caicedo to Liverpool
Throughout the World Cup, noise of Liverpool’s interest in bringing Caicedo to Anfield has grown steadily louder.
This culminated with Sky Sports reporting that the Reds were set to do battle with Chelsea for his signature the week before Christmas.
Since then, journalist Pete O’Rourke has claimed that Caicedo himself is really keen on a move to Liverpool.
And, finally, and perhaps most intriguingly of all, the Ecuadorian ‘liked’ Cody Gakpo’s Instagram post on Thursday.

On the surface, there would seem to be no reason for Caicedo to be so enthused by Gakpo’s arrival at Liverpool. The two have never crossed paths in their careers.
So, this being 2023 (just about), Caicedo’s social media activities is what could point most heavily to a potential transfer.
Still, any such transfer would obviously be dependent on Liverpool hammering out a deal with Brighton. Notoriously difficult to deal with when it comes to selling their top players, this isn’t an enviable task for the Reds.
That task could become harder as Caicedo’s importance to his current team grows ever further. They look a little bereft of quality without him in there. That could be bad news for Liverpool.
