Report: What Jude Bellingham is about to tell Borussia Dortmund in the next two weeks

Reported Liverpool transfer target Jude Bellingham is set to tell Borussia Dortmund that he wants to leave the club.

That’s according to SportBILD, who claim that the England midfielder has now decided that his future lies away from Germany.

It’s believed that Bellingham will inform Dortmund of his decision once his involvement in the ongoing World Cup is over.

After that, it’s claimed that the ‘transfer poker’ around the player will really begin. However, Liverpool are said to have a head-start in such games, with the 19-year-old preferring a move to Anfield.

Importantly, Bellingham’s entourage are also reportedly pushing for a move to the Reds. Discussions to that end are even said to be ‘very far along.’

In fact, BILD go as far as saying that, at this point, the only ‘threat’ to Bellingham joining Liverpool is the transfer fee. The Reds have reportedly put aside around £80m for the move, and are yet to come close to Dortmund’s valuation of £130m.

A big few days for Bellingham news

Since England’s win over Senegal last weekend, the reports surrounding Bellingham have really ramped up.

His burgeoning friendship with Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold has certainly caught Reds’ fans imaginations. There have also been copious updates suggesting Liverpool are the overwhelming favourite to land him.

But until there is something more concrete, we won’t be getting too excited.

That’s because the final point of this particular update seems to be the most prevalent. The case has always been that Bellingham would cost Liverpool a record amount.

Battling against clubs with deeper pockets, how do Liverpool ensure they can win that battle?

One way is by convincing the player that Anfield is the best place for him. At least by doing that, Liverpool can perhaps force Dortmund’s hand a little, and bring the fee down.

If Bellingham has no desire to play his football anywhere else, then the Germans will be forced to come to the table.

Right now, it appears that the Reds are doing a good amount of work to that end. But make no mistake that other clubs remain firmly in the hunt. Until they’re out of the picture, nerves will remain that the superstar will slip through Liverpool’s grip.
