Reported Liverpool transfer target Sofyan Amrabat has been one of the best players at this year’s World Cup.
That’s the view of TalkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara. Speaking on the radio station yesterday, O’Hara said the Morocco midfielder was a shoo-in for his best XI of the tournament so far.
“He’s [Amrabat] been exceptional. He was straight in my team [for team of the tournament] when I first did the teamsheet, what a performance he put in against Spain. The fact that he’s playing for Morocco, he’s been different class,” gushed the pundit.
After a week of speculation, news filtered through yesterday that Liverpool have already met with Amrabat’s representatives over a move.

Amrabat now a genuine option for Liverpool
Amrabat’s star has risen with amazing speed over the duration of the World Cup. Three weeks ago, no Liverpool fan would have had him on their shortlist of new midfield recruits.
Fast forward through four brilliant displays in Qatar, and the Moroccan is now a genuine option.
As Liverpool have seen in the past, it can be dangerous to judge players off the back of performances at major tournaments. Four good games not a Liverpool player does make.
However, as you’d expect with their meticulous transfer strategy, the Reds interest appears to pre-date the tournament. Foot Mercato reported yesterday that ‘positive’ talks prior to the competition kicking off are set to be reconvened once the World Cup is over.

Given the new-found appreciation of Amrabat, perhaps those talks will now take a different tone.
Regardless, Liverpool should maintain their interest in the 26-year-old. Without a hugely off-putting price-tag he could be a perfect option in Jurgen Klopp’s new look midfield.
Amrabat fully warrants the praise that is coming his way, and O’Hara won’t be alone in selecting him for Team of the Tournament.
Partnering him in a fair few of those fantastical line-up’s is likely to be England’s Jude Bellingham. If things work out to Liverpool’s plans, we could see them line-up together at Anfield in the near future.
