Pep Guardiola is clearly a big fan of Liverpool target Jude Bellingham. The Reds want the midfielder but face intense competition.

Pep Guardiola raved about Jude Bellingham this week, with his Manchester City side facing the Borussia Dortmund star tomorrow. The Spaniard sees Bellingham as a ‘special’ player.

“It’s not just quality… he has a special mentality,” he said, per Fabrizio Romano. “He’s already one of the captains, at 19 is quite impressive.

“It’s not just about the goals, the whole package is top. He’s already playing for England at 19. We know the quality he has”.

Bellingham scored twice at the weekend as Dortmund ran riot against Stuttgart. It’s the latest starring role for the 19-year-old after a string of fantastic performances this season.

Cadena SER journalist Pacojo recently claimed that Liverpool lead the way for Bellingham next summer. He’s widely expected to leave Dortmund in 2023 and if true, he might be the most in-demand player around.

Depending on Kylian Mbappé’s situation, of course.

But Bellingham is about as good as it gets for Liverpool. We see him as the Reds’ perfect signing right at a time when they must overhaul their midfield.

His reputation, however, might cause problems. Bellingham just keeps impressing and is only drawing more and more interest his way. The teenager is quickly becoming one of the most impactful midfielders around, not just a fantastic young prospect.

Thus world football’s top sides won’t want to miss out on this special talent. City are a worry, of course, as are Real Madrid. We doubt they’ll be the only teams throwing money at Dortmund next year, either.

And it’s all coming as Liverpool struggle for form. Their place at the top of the game is essentially the only chance they have of securing Bellingham but they’re faltering. It may cost them the player.

Hopefully, things turn around quickly because missing out on Bellingham would be a significant blow.
