Arsenal have made the first move to sign Fenerbahce teenager Arda Guler, who has also been linked to Liverpool.
That’s according to Aksam via FourFourTwo, who claim that Arsenal could sign the teenager who Liverpool reportedly scouted.
Guler could reportedly be available for around £25m. It’s claimed that Arsenal have ‘begun the process’ of signing the 17-year-old to get a head-start on the competition.
The youngster broke into Fenerbahce’s first-team last season, becoming the youngest goalscorer in Turkish Super Lig history in March.
Liverpool keeping abreast of top talent
Liverpool tend to have their fingers on the pulse when it comes to scouring the top talent from elsewhere.
Just this summer, we have seen them secure the signing of Celtic winger Ben Doak, with Derry City’s Trent Kone-Doherty set to follow.
Prior to that, Liverpool also swooped to claim Harvey Elliott and Kaide Gordon as 16-year-old’s. As a result, it isn’t a surprise to learn that The Reds were scouting one of the most precocious talents on the continent.
Guler looks set for a big career in football. As per Sporx, none other than Mesut Ozil declared his expectation that the teenager will be a ‘world star.’
That’s a lot of pressure to put on young shoulders. The pressure will increase ten-fold if he does end up getting a move to one of football’s giants.
Should Liverpool end up winning the race, they’ll ensure that Guler develops properly before throwing him in at the deep end. The club look to have mastered the art of good loan moves for young players and this should be something that appeals to a player like Guler.
This is unlikely to be the last we hear of a move to England for the young attacking midfielder. If Arsenal do end up taking their interest forward, perhaps Liverpool will feel the need to do the same.
