Liverpool still want to sign RB Salzburg forward Karim Adeyemi, according to reports. His price has soared this season, however.
This comes from Bild. They claim that Liverpool remain in the race for Karim Adeyemi, though they’re not the only ones.
Borussia Dortmund are big, big fans of Adeyemi and want to sign him in the summer. Liverpool hope to rival them, though, as Jurgen Klopp drives the Reds’ interest in the German forward.
What’s particularly notable here is Adeyemi’s price-tag. Bild claim RB Salzburg now want around £38m to sell their prized asset at the end of the season. Compare that to September when they reportedly only wanted £17m.
It’s a massive rise for the 20-year-old and one that will have Liverpool questioning their interest here. So should they still push for Adeyemi at this price?
Liverpool want Karim Adeyemi
Adeyemi has been seriously impressive at times this season. He’s only 20 and relatively inexperienced but capable of delivering things that few players can.
We’re big, big fans of Adeyemi after what he did in the Champions League this season, for instance. He won four penalties in two games against impressive European sides – and was still a teenager at the time. The forward delivered moments that will seriously impress Liverpool, too, and had people like Glenn Hoddle labelling him ‘fabulous’.

We’ve written before that Adeyemi could be a ‘bargain superstar’ for Liverpool – but that’s up for debate now. As good as he’s looked, it’s a small sample size for a £38m fee. Adeyemi is only playing regular football in the Austrian Bundesliga, after all.
Now, Erling Haaland is proof that you can transition from that league – and Salzburg – to a top-five European league. But how many players are Haaland? The chances of that kind of player are very slim.
Add in doubts over playing time – Liverpool boast a lot of forwards right now – and we’re not sure the Reds can justify that fee. Adeyemi looks like a potential star but it’s a risk transfer at this stage.
