Karim Adeyemi wasted no time in scoring a goal for RB Salzburg against Wolfsburg on Wednesday. It’s the kind of strike that will raise eyebrows at Liverpool.
It’s a Champions League week, so that means eyes are on Karim Adeyemi. The young German forward just keeps impressing for RB Salzburg.
His first two Champions League games were particularly notable. Adeyemi won four penalties across the two games, including three in one half against Sevilla.
He ended up converting two penalties across those games, too.
But he’s saved his best for Salzburg’s third game. Adeyemi wasted no time at all in scoring against Wolfsburg, opening up the tie inside the first few minutes.
And it was an impressive striker. A pass to the teenager was underhit but he showed a ridiculous burst of pace to compete for the ball with a defender. Adeyemi stole in just ahead, nicked the ball, and finished emphatically past the goalkeeper.
It’s a goal that will impress the watching Liverpool.
Adeyemi impresses with goal
There are links to Adeyemi just about every week at this point. The latest comes from Austrian outlet Orf. They claim that Liverpool want the forward and that he could cost around £30m.
It’s far from the first time an outlet has suggested all of this. And for what it’s worth, we think Adeyemi is already worth that £30m.
His goal against Wolfsburg highlights why. Adeyemi showed tremendous pace, desire, and technique to force the goal – all traits Liverpool want in their front-line.
You can easily see how he’d fit in. The 19-year-old is an absolute nightmare on the counter-attack, especially if you win the ball high up the pitch. He’d plug in perfectly with Liverpool’s style and offer more of what they love up top.
And who knows? Perhaps he’s the long-term successor to Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah. Right now, there doesn’t appear to be a better fit for such a difficult task.
