Yves Bissouma wants to move to Arsenal, according to reports. Liverpool supposedly want the midfielder this summer.
This comes from Football London. They claim Yves Bissouma has instructed his agents to work a deal with Arsenal.
The Brighton midfielder wants to play there next season, though there’s no offer on the table.
It’s a situation that should affect Liverpool’s own plans.
Yves Bissouma to Arsenal?
This is starting to look fairly complex but this latest report doesn’t come as too much of a surprise. For one, it was claimed months ago that Bissouma is actually an Arsenal fan.

But there’s also a lot to understand about Liverpool’s position.
The Athletic claim Liverpool are looking at Bissouma this summer and that Brighton have a £40m price-tag on him. There’s a deal to be made, then, and a clear reason for the Reds to buy him.
Gini Wijnaldum leaves next month, after all, creating a gap in Liverpool’s midfield. Bissouma would fill it nicely.
We can probably say the Sunday World were off the mark with their report, though.
Regardless, it does seem the interest is there. And why wouldn’t it be? Bissouma is a fantastic player who looks ready to kick up a level. Liverpool could be a wonderful environment for him to do just that.
But, of course, there’s more to consider.
Where will things go from here?
We’ll start with Liverpool’s reported position. The Liverpool Echo claim there’s no burning desire to replace Wijnaldum this summer.
That means no midfielder is definitely coming in. They could stick with what they’ve got, with Curtis Jones receiving a lot more football.
And perhaps that’s why Bissouma is pushing for an Arsenal move – he doesn’t believe Liverpool are interested. It would certainly add up.
Another factor here is that Liverpool must sell to buy, per the Athletic, and that means no move for Bissouma would be close. In fact, Liverpool likely haven’t made up their minds one way or the other.
They don’t know how much money they’ll have, after all.
But then there’s the kicker – Arsenal haven’t actually bid. Reports from Belgium claim they’re looking at a similar player there in Albert Sambi Lokonga.
Football London themselves believe Lokonga could be their cheaper Bissouma alternative. If that’s true, the Brighton man isn’t going there no matter how much he wants it.
And so Liverpool may actually have time here. It doesn’t sound as though Arsenal are close to any move, just that Bissouma is pushing there.
We’d still feel confident that Liverpool could sway his gaze if they did make a formal offer. We could be wrong on that, of course, but that’s the impression we get from all of this.
