Charlie Nicholas really doesn’t have too much faith in us. The Sky pundit has again tipped Liverpool to trip up this weekend. The Reds face Leicester City in a game that sees Jürgen Klopp take on this season’s surprise contenders for a top four spot.
The Foxes are currently third in the table and have earned an impressive victory against Tottenham Hotspur this campaign. Brendan Rodgers has been getting the best out of the likes of Caglar Soyuncu and James Maddison. Charlie Nicholas has tipped Leicester for a point this weekend.
The Scottish pundit gave his weekend predictions to Sky Football. Nicholas has predicted the game to finish 2-2 at Anfield. Although he believes Leicester will get something out of the game he doesn’t think it will be an easy match for them, saying “this is the ultimate test for Leicester”.
Despite the Foxes being distinct underdogs in the fixture, he has said “they will go to Anfield and take them on”. This approach could be make or break for Brendan Rodgers, the Reds are deadly on the counter attack, if the Foxes commit too many bodies forward then they could be punished by an incisive Liverpool breakaway.
Nicholas cited Klopp’s midweek defensive woes as a reason for his prediction, writing “If Salzburg can score three times at Anfield then I’m sure Leicester could grab a goal”. Although the Reds had a poor game defensively midweek, we can expect this to be resolved should Joel Matip return to the side.
This isn’t the first time that Charlie Nicholas has backed us to slip up, he thought that Chelsea could get one over us at Stamford Bridge. Let’s hope we can prove him wrong again.
