Liverpool are the team to beat at the moment. During my lifetime there has never been such a dominant Reds side, we expect them to win every week no matter the opposition – well – apart from Man City. Such is Liverpool’s dominance, they have won each of their last 14 Premier League games. Jürgen Klopp’s side sit atop the Premier League with a record breaking 5 point gap after 5 games. It’s all coming up Scouse. However, Sky pundit Charlie Nicholas has tipped Chelsea v Liverpool to end the Reds streak.

Nicholas’ Sky Sports predictions were published on the 19th of September 2019. He told Sky “it will be an open game of football, which will see Liverpool drop their 100 per cent record,” bold words indeed.
Predicting a goal filled 2-2 draw, Nicholas said, “Frank Lampard wants to attack, which opens up the counter-attack scenario for Liverpool”. The broadcaster believes that the Blues offensive minded approach will lead to them creating opportunities for Tammy Abraham. The youngster has been in red hot form for Chelsea so far this season, he netted a hat trick against Wolves last weekend – the pundit continued, “[Chelsea] need to find the killer pass in this game, which I think they will.”
Despite Liverpool’s disappointing defeat in Europe this week, they should be encouraged by their defensive performance. The Reds were incredibly unlucky to have a penalty given against them in Naples, the 2-0 scoreline flattered the hosts. Lampard’s side on the other hand were impotent against Valencia and probably deserved to lose. This Liverpool group has been together longer and have a stronger mentality than the youthful Chelsea side. I can’t see the Reds conceding those 2 goals this weekend.
