Born in Usurbil, Spanish Basque country, Iraola took over after three eye-catching seasons with Bournemouth, guiding them to a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League and the Europa League in 2025/26.
A former captain of Athletic Bilbao, Iraola arrived at Anfield promising a return to the front-footed, high-pressing style of Jurgen Klopp, with fans hoping to see a return to the Spaniard’s own version of ‘heavy metal football.’
