Liverpool supporters were given another glimpse into the talents of Yan Diomande on Thursday as the youngster shone for the Ivory Coast at the World Cup.
Diomande did not have his best game last time out against Germany, but he looked back at it in Philadelphia, laying on an assist for Nicolas Pepe to help his team to a 2-0 win.
As Liverpool continue to retain confidence that he will become a Red this summer, fans are watching Diomande‘s every move at the World Cup, and with the spotlight very much on him, Opta have confirmed that the 19-year-old has set a 21st century record for dribbles and chances created.

It was interesting to see Diomande line up on the left side of Ivory Coast’s attack for the second game running against Curacao.
Liverpool have reportedly promised him a spot on his favoured right side, but the RB Leipzig man is clearly able to cause danger on either flank.
That has become clear in both his dribbling and his chance creation, and Diomande has now become the first player to register more than 10 successful dribbles and create more than 10 chances in his first three World Cup matches since the year 2000.
Running with the ball has been a big problem for Liverpool’s wide players in recent times, and with Diomande obviously having no such trouble, fans will be drooling at the prospect of seeing him perform like this at Anfield next season.

What’s the latest on Diomande to Liverpool?
While supporters are indeed getting excited at just how promising Diomande has been at the World Cup, there is little use going too over the top on a player who is still contracted to another club.
But, as journalist Lewis Steele told Anfield Index on Thursday, it would now be a surprise if Diomande did not join Liverpool before the end of the summer window.
“The Diomande side is that he’s really keen to get it done,” he said. “I do think that it will happen, it’s just a case of being patient. I think Leipzig are holding out for 130 million Euros. Liverpool want it closer to 100 million Euros.
“I just wonder whether they will shake hands somewhere in the middle with a structure that is preferential to them. 30 million Euros is a big gap but I think there are ways it can be met in the middle to suit both parties.
“I’d be very surprised if it doesn’t end up with Diomande signing for Liverpool.”
