Having already added Victor Munoz to their squad this summer, Liverpool could reportedly make a further five new signings.
That’s according to journalist David Lynch, who told Liverpool fan podcast Born ‘N Red that fans may see two more attackers, two midfielders and a centre-back arrive.
“I think there’s potential for five,” Lynch said. “I really can see two more attackers coming in if Gakpo is sold. I can see two midfielders if you see a Mac Allister and a Jones sale, that doesn’t seem that crazy to say.”
Which former Liverpool player do you want to see on Andoni Iraola’s coaching staff?
Both are free and available…
“Maybe one more defender who can fill in, who either sorts the right-back thing by moving Joe Gomez over and plays centre-half, or can play right-back and centre-back. That adds up to six total for the summer. I don’t feel that that’s an outlandish thing to say that I could see that based on everything I know at the moment. Real possibility for that.”
With excitement growing that Liverpool could transform what began to look like a pedestrian squad last season, Rousing The Kop have analysed who the five new additions could realistically be.
Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola reshape the attack
Lynch had already claimed earlier in the week that there is a chance Cody Gakpo is sold, with Bradley Barcola potentially replacing him.
As a result, the two attacking signings, along with Munoz, are perhaps the easiest to predict.

Yan Diomande remains Liverpool’s top target, and though there is significant doubt over whether they’ll be able to persuade RB Leipzig to sell him, let’s be positive and say that the deal does go through.
Though Diomande and Munoz might be where Liverpool draw the line, if Gakpo goes, then Barcola would be a magnificent replacement. The Frenchman has been persistently linked with the Reds, and the longer that continues, the more it feels as though he is destined to join.
Ayyoub Bouaddi and Angelo Stiller reinforce midfield
Of the additions Lynch talks about, the two arriving in midfield perhaps seems the most unlikely.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Adam Wharton has gone cold, and as long as Curtis Jones’ move to Inter Milan in the balance, it is tough to see any room for new signings.
However, Jones is still likely to leave, and with Mac Allister potentially joining him, they would definitely need to be replaced.
As Wharton has moved out of the picture, Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi has entered it with force. Liverpool have reportedly held talks with Bouaddi, and though he is only 18, the Reds could provide him with a pathway to the first-team.
You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?
Who should Richard Hughes be targeting above all…
In terms of a second midfielder, Liverpool considered signing Angelo Stiller in 2024, and with Bouaddi adding more inexperience, they would need a more senior head in there to cater for Mac Allister’s exit.
Now 25, Stiller is the ideal age to join, and he still has a €40m release clause in his contract, despite Stuttgart’s ability to buy the option out for €2m.
Links to Stiller have gone quiet over recent months, but if Liverpool are going for a supplementary option to Bouaddi, who appears to be a concrete target, the German feels like the most likely candidate. AZ Alkmaar’s Kees Smit is another potential target worth keeping in mind.
Oscar Mingueza arrives as Liverpool’s new utility man
In terms of Liverpool signing a defender, many supporters are desperate to see a new right-back arrive.
However, as Lynch says, the Reds could also do with a new centre-back. So, why not get themselves a player who can do both?

In Oscar Mingueza, they would also be getting someone who could fill in at left-back if needs be.
Crucially, Mingueza is set to be available on a free transfer once his Celta Vigo contract expires at the end of June, and given the likely £250m+ they would have to pay in order to sign Diomande, Barcola, Bouaddi and Stiller, that would be a welcome bonus.
Liverpool have already shown that they will listen to Andoni Iraola’s requests to look at La Liga players by signing Munoz, and having watched him spend his whole career so far in Spain with Barcelona and then Celta, the Reds’ head coach will be well aware of Mingueza.
Still only 27 and with four Spain caps to his name, Mingueza would be a solid option to add strength in depth to a back line which badly needs it.
