Liverpool are stepping up their transfer activity this month, with one deal already looking close.
Despite very little reporting around the winger previously, Victor Munoz is signing for the Reds as one of potentially two or three new forward additions.
Meanwhile, it has already been claimed that Liverpool have been calling midfielders, and an insight into the Merseyside outfit’s interest in Bournemouth’s Alex Scott and Adam Wharton has been shared.
How excited are you by Liverpool’s surprise signing of Victor Munoz?
And what do you think his role will be next season? Is he an immediate starter?
Liverpool want Adam Wharton and Alex Scott
According to FlashScore: “It is understood Liverpool view Wharton, alongside Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, as a player capable of adding new control and quality to the centre of the pitch.”
However, Liverpool are not the only Premier League side interested in the Crystal Palace man.
Tottenham Hotspur have been very busy in the last month, and they too are thought to have a long-standing interest in Wharton.
But given the clear problems Liverpool had in midfield last season, they should be doing everything they can to get a transfer for Scott or the Palace star over the line.
Alexis Mac Allister and Ryan Gravenberch had to play the majority of minutes last season due to a lack of depth.
It has since emerged that Mac Allister could leave this summer, while Curtis Jones also has transfer interest from Inter Milan.
Even if both were to stay, Liverpool’s midfield was described as a ‘big problem’ during the 2025/26 campaign.
Someone like Wharton could fix that, and he would surely be a big upgrade on Mac Allister, who really struggled last term.
It would also allow Dominik Szoboszlai to keep playing at right-back on occasion given Jeremie Frimpong is not really suited to playing in a back-four, as was evident during his debut season at Anfield.
