Liverpool are still pursuing both Yan Diomande and Bradley Barcola after agreeing the surprising signing of Osasuna winger Victor Munoz.
The Reds swooped in to buy Munoz on Wednesday evening, leaving many Reds fans scrambling to find out exactly who the Spain international is.
Liverpool have been pursuing wingers during the summer transfer window after seeing their options go stale under Arne Slot. The Reds have been pushing to sign Diomande from RB Leipzig for a mammoth fee, while Barcola has also been heavily linked.
How excited are you by Liverpool’s surprise signing of Victor Munoz?
And what do you think his role will be next season? Is he an immediate starter?
Some supporters may have been concerned that the imminent arrival of Munoz could end plans to sign a bigger name, but according to journalists Alex Crook and Fabrizio Romano, that is not the case.
Liverpool still want to add another winger
It always felt likely that Liverpool would sign one big-money winger and another, cheaper, lesser-known name this summer.
Now that Munoz has been revealed to be the budget option, all eyes will turn to Barcola and, especially, Diomande, as the Reds aim to revamp their attack.
According to Crook, it is still full steam ahead on that front, with Liverpool stepping up efforts against the backdrop of the World Cup.

“LFC are still working on Yan Diomande in addition to Munoz and remain optimistic,” the reporter posted to X. “There is competition from PSG, and it is not discounted a deal for his signature is closed during the World Cup.”
Meanwhile, after also corroborated Liverpool’s continued interest in Diomande on his YouTube channel, Romano also made sure to keep Barcola’s name in the picture as well.
“There’s a name I want to keep there: Bradley Barcola remains a player appreciated by Liverpool,” he said.
“He’s also appreciated by Arsenal, but the priority for Arsenal remains Morgan Rogers. Barcola is on the shortlist, but nothing imminent. For Liverpool he remains a name to follow, but for sure Liverpool will do more in terms of wingers.”
If Munoz was a bolt from the blue, then Liverpool tying up either Diomande or Barcola would be the complete opposite. Thankfully, though, it currently looks more than likely that one of the World Cup stars will join the Spain international at Anfield in the coming weeks.
