Liverpool transfer round-up: Yan Diomande, Jan Paul van Hecke and €20m wonderkid battle

Liverpool’s summer plans are starting to take shape, with moves for a wide player, a centre-back, and two teenage forwards all developing in different ways.

Yan Diomande contact has been made as the Reds search for Mohamed Salah’s successor, while Jan Paul van Hecke could become a target if Liverpool decide to join Tottenham in the race.

Elsewhere, Kennet Eichhorn is drawing interest from Germany, and Eli Junior Kroupi may already have a preferred destination if he leaves Bournemouth.

You can only pick ONE player for Liverpool to sign this summer, who is it?

Liverpool contact RB Leipzig for Yan Diomande

Liverpool and PSG are both pushing hard for Diomande, but Manchester United appear to be falling behind. Ben Jacobs has suggested United are unlikely to pay €100m, while Liverpool can offer the RB Leipzig winger a clear role on the right as Salah’s replacement.

That pitch now has more weight after David Ornstein reported that Liverpool have made contact with Leipzig and are in a strong position. PSG remain a real danger after Diomande spoke warmly about the French club, but this is clearly a major Diomande transfer boost.

Jan Paul van Hecke race could open up

Liverpool are also being linked with Van Hecke after Tottenham saw an opening bid rejected by Brighton. The Dutch defender has one year left on his deal, although Brighton are still said to value him at around £70m.

That price feels high, but the centre-back market is clearly active. With Ibrahima Konate leaving, Andoni Iraola will need another serious option alongside Virgil van Dijk, and the Van Hecke interest makes sense.

Kennet Eichhorn battle takes shape

Liverpool are also in the mix for Hertha Berlin teenager Eichhorn, with Bayer Leverkusen reportedly still fighting for him. The 16-year-old cannot move straight to England this summer, but the Reds are said to have explored a loan plan until he turns 18.

The total package could reach around €20m once agent fees are included. That has scared off some clubs, but Liverpool appear serious in the Eichhorn transfer battle.

Eli Junior Kroupi prefers PSG

Kroupi is another exciting forward on Liverpool’s radar, but PSG may again have the emotional edge. The Bournemouth attacker scored 13 league goals last season and is already valued at around €100m after a huge breakthrough year.

Andoni Iraola gives Liverpool a connection, having worked with Kroupi at Bournemouth, but reports in France suggest PSG are the teenager’s dream club. That makes this a difficult one, even with the Kroupi links growing.
