A new era is beginning at Liverpool, with Andoni Iraola becoming the Reds’ new manager on Thursday evening.
The Spaniard arrives with some big changes needing to be made after what was a poor season under Arne Slot.
Iraola has only signed a two-year contract, previously explaining why that is the case. Now, Jamie Carragher has wished the club’s new manager good luck.

Jamie Carragher’s message to Andoni Iraola
Taking to X/Twitter after the announcement was confirmed, the former Liverpool centre-back wrote: “Good luck Boss,” followed by shaking hands and red circle emojis.
It will be interesting to see how the former Bournemouth manager gets on at a club with the reputation of Liverpool.
Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes had three key reasons for appointing the manager after sacking Slot last weekend.
One of them was the style of play produced at Bournemouth, which is exactly what Liverpool fans will want.
However, Carragher has expressed doubts about several Reds players being able to play the way their new manager wants.
Speaking earlier this week, he said: “My worry with that, is when we’re talking about Iraola, we go back to that style. Of course, a manager plays his style, but they’ve recruited for Arne Slot’s style, which was not quite Jurgen Klopp; it’s a bit more control.
“Now, when we’re saying the football wasn’t great, you’re right. It wasn’t. It was slow, laborious, but it wasn’t a case of the manager being defensive. He had a lot of attacking players on the pitch.
“My thing is now Isak, Wirtz, Ekitike, I’m not sure they are those type of players. That’s my worry.
“When we said the football was slow, the press wasn’t there. It was because we had Wirtz and Mac Allister in there. Isak doesn’t press.
“Ekitike doesn’t really press. So you almost brought these talented players in, and they couldn’t play this style that we associated with Klopp, we saw bits of in his first season, and Liverpool went the other way.”
Let’s just hope Alexander Isak, Hugo Ekitike and Florian Wirtz can step up under the new coach.
