Liverpool have now confirmed that they have replaced Arne Slot with former Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola.

Iraola has sent his first message as Reds manager, in which he spoke about his excitement and the challenge ahead.

The Spaniard arrives with very little ‘big’ team experience under his belt, but both Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes think he is ready to step up to the plate.

What should Iraola’s first job be as Liverpool boss? 🤔

Personality, style and working with youngsters all key to Andoni Iraola joining Liverpool

A report from The Athletic has now shared why both Liverpool chiefs decided that Iraola was the right man to step in and replace Slot after what was a tough season for all involved.

Firstly, the pair are said to ‘admire’ the way the manager was able to take Bournemouth, who have limited funds, and make them one of the most exciting teams in the Premier League.

This is, of course, obviously a huge plus for Liverpool fans, who had partly turned on Slot because of his boring style.

Secondly, despite arriving from Bournemouth who, with the greatest respect, are a much smaller club than Liverpool, Edwards and Hughes think Iraola has the ‘personality and leadership’ to step up into a bigger team.

And finally, which is another huge plus given how Slot dealt with a lot of young players this past season, they think Iraola’s reputation for developing youngsters is a massive plus.
