Liverpool are reportedly weighing up whether Bradley Barcola is the right player to revamp the left side of their attack this summer.

The Reds are badly in need of some more pace in forward areas, and Barcola has been reliably linked as one of Arne Slot’s top targets.

However, according to French outlet L’Equipe, Liverpool are still pondering whether or not his arrival could impact too greatly on Rio Ngumoha.

Liverpool want to keep Ngumoha pathway clear

Liverpool were reportedly interested in signing Barcola in 2025, but chose not to go ahead with the deal amid fears his signing could block Ngumoha’s pathway to the first-team.

12 months on, and it seems that those worries have not gone away. L’Equipe report that after Ngumoha made a case to be Liverpool’s starting left winger, the Reds are more interested in signing a right-sided forward.

With Mohamed Salah leaving, Slot does not have a natural right winger aside from Jeremie Frimpong, and this is reportedly what they are more likely to be in the market for.

A decision is said to be still awaiting finalisation, but the direction of travel is that Liverpool want to leave the left side more open to allow for Ngumoha’s continued development.

Nevertheless, the interest in Barcola is claimed to be genuine, and the Reds will firm up their plan in the weeks ahead.

Either way, Liverpool are set to have an exciting talent on the left wing next season, with transfer discussions in full swing as a hugely disappointing season draws to a close.
