A few weeks ago, Harry Wilson looked like a clever bit of low-cost business for Liverpool.
Now it sounds even more convincing after Liverpool confirmed Mo Salah will leave at the end of the season.
Not because he is the answer to Salah, he is not, but because Arne Slot is about to lose a huge chunk of left-footed quality, attacking output and right-sided balance from the squad.
Which players should Liverpool target to replace Mohamed Salah this summer? 🤔
And Liverpool can get Wilson on a free — one of the standout performers in the Premier League this season.
Harry Wilson to Liverpool a no-brainer
That is why Wilson deserves another look. He came through Liverpool’s system, spent almost 16 years at the club and left for Fulham in 2021 without ever really getting a proper run at senior level.
Since then, he has grown into a proven Premier League attacker, and his numbers this season make the argument stronger than ever. Wilson has ten goals and six assists in the league, which is real output in a Fulham side that does not have Liverpool’s attacking weight around him.

The important point is that this should not be framed as a straight Salah replacement. Liverpool will need a bigger signing for that.
Wilson makes sense as a depth option, a smart squad addition who can give Slot quality minutes from the right, cover other attacking roles and bring end product without demanding that the whole attack be built around him. Think of the move for Xherdan Shaqiri back in 2018.
If you could buy ANY Premier League player right now, who are you signing for Liverpool this summer?
It is that kind of role, an experienced left-footed attacker who can start when needed, change games from the bench and add genuine quality to a squad without being the headline act.
In that sense, Wilson would be a very Liverpool move. He knows the club, he is playing some of the best football of his career, and with Salah gone there is suddenly more space for a player like him to matter. He would not be the star signing of the summer, but he could easily be one of the smartest.
