McCoist, like everyone else, is trying to picture life after Salah at Liverpool.
Fabrizio Romano revealed Liverpool’s plan is to recruit one or two wingers in the summer despite suggestions that the wide responsibilities will be going to the full-backs next season.
We all know the elite options around Europe, but McCoist loves the idea of going for an Englishman who is far too good to play in the Championship.
He made his recommendation on talkSPORT on Wednesday, saying: “I’ll throw a name at you. West Ham’s fans will hate me for saying it, but if West Ham go down, what about Jarrod Bowen? I’m a massive fan of Jarrod Bowen. I’ve got to say, Lord, I love him.
“Anytime I go and watch West Ham, I mean, clearly they’ve got a big fight in their hands. And if they didn’t stay up, you would maybe suggest they’d lose one or two of their best players. He could play for Liverpool in that side.”
A glowing review for the West Ham captain, who has been a model of consistency in the Premier League throughout the 2020s. He might not be the ‘sexy’ option, but he would surely settle in well.
As an added bonus, Jurgen Klopp once called Bowen ‘unbelievable’. Now that’s a review that matters.
