It is going to be hard for Liverpool to replace the huge number of goals and assists Mohamed Salah has contributed since his transfer in 2017.
In what may come as a huge surprise to many, it was announced by the Reds on Tuesday night that Salah is leaving at the end of the 2025/26 season.
Liverpool won’t earn a transfer fee from the winger, who has, since arriving from AS Roma, been involved in 35% of the Merseyside team’s goals across all competitions.

Michael Reid, a Football Data Editor at Opta, took to X to share the staggering stats behind the 33-year-old’s time at Anfield.
They included the fact that Salah has the best minutes per-goal rate of all players with 100+ goals in the Reds’ storied history.
Reid shared: “Liverpool have scored in all competitions. He has averaged 94 mins/goal or assist over 435 apps for #LFC.
“He has the best mins/goal rate of all players with 100+ goals in the club’s history. Only Mo Salah.”
With such big shoes to fill, fans are no doubt wondering what the club are going to do in the transfer window.
Well, Fabrizio Romano has shared an update on how Liverpool plan to replace Salah, with the club expected to target wingers this summer.
He said: “Liverpool will go for wingers in the summer, could be one, could be two, depends on the opportunities, but they will go for wingers. Liverpool will be smart, of course, Champions League football or not will be important for the investment, so we have to understand.”
