Liverpool offered more encouragement on Yan Diomande as Bayern drop out of race

Bayern Munich are one of the sides who have been looking at Yan Diomande, along with Liverpool.

Diomande is garnering interest amid his impressive 2025/26 campaign at RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga.

But the Liverpool target’s price-tag is thought to be around £86m, and that has put the German champions off making a move, Christian Falk has said.

Which three would you go with against a side shipping so many goals?

Bayern Munich out of Yan Diomande race

Speaking to CF Bayern Insider, Falk claimed that Diomande is ‘off the list’ not because Bayern don’t rate him, but rather because ‘he’s too good and too expensive’.

He said: “He obviously has so much quality and is playing very well in the Bundesliga this term. So, he’s not off the list because he’s a poor player, but rather because he’s too good and too expensive! Bayern know how much RB Leipzig are looking for in a transfer fee (negotiations will start at €100m [£86.2m]) and it’s a lot! Certainly more than what Bayern are prepared to pay at the moment.

“And the fact of the matter is that they already have Luis Diaz, who is the main man on the left side. They can’t pay so much money for what would effectively be a backup signing.

“So, it’s hard for Bayern Munich, given they love the player, but they won’t be involved in the poker with Premier League clubs. He’s too expensive.”

Liverpool summer transfer plans suggest winger will be priority

It remains to be seen if a move for Diomande will be made in the 2026 summer transfer window, but all the signs are pointing towards attacking reinforcements arriving at Anfield later this year.

David Ornstein and Fabrizio Romano have both suggested in the last week that Liverpool will sign a winger.

Romano said: “I see Liverpool going for important wingers, yes I do.

“But when it’s about Olise, my understanding is that Bayern are playing down all the reports because they see him staying. They don’t want him to go.”

Ornstein stated: “I expect a wide attacker to be signed, like a winger.

“They were in for Semenyo previously, he didn’t come to them but I think that’s what they’re in the market for.”

So, with Michael Olise probably not happening, as Romano hinted, a move for Diomande would make a lot of sense.
