Liverpool have another injured player to add to the list after Jayden Danns’ return to action was brought to an abrupt end after 29 minutes.
The young striker has been out for most of the season, but was thought to be ready for a return for the Under 21s.
Now, though, he is going to be sidelined for another few weeks, adding to Liverpool’s already lengthy list of absentees. Hugo Ekitike looks ready to play for France, but the jury is still out on Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Federico Chiesa, who has returned from international duty.
Which Liverpool player would you most like to see lift the World Cup this summer?
And which one has the best chance…
For Danns, it’s a frustrating turn of events that has become all too familiar in his short professional career. It’s also a genuine concern for the club to be planning a future with a player so prone to injury.
Jayden’ Danns injury problems are a red flag, but Liverpool should show patience
Danns might still have a part to play in the Premier League 2 play-offs, but it’s unlikely we see him feature for Arne Slot for the rest of the season. That’s according to a report from This Is Anfield.
They claim Danns has a ‘minor hamstring problem’ that will keep him out for three or four weeks ‘as a precaution’.
The 20-year-old hasn’t been able to get a foothold in the first team with how often he is missing time, and there might be some at the club feeling skittish about banking on his future.
In certain contexts, the risk isn’t worth it, but Liverpool’s striker situation allows for some understanding.

Danns, when fit, can be an impactful squad player for Arne Slot. Being a third option negates some of the injury risk, while also insuring against similar problems happening to Ekitike and Isak.
At least for another couple of seasons, it makes sense to give him a chance. Physical ailments aside, there is a quality player in there.
Liverpool have concerns all over the pitch, but after last summer’s mammoth spend, they don’t need to worry about personnel changes at the number nine spot.
