Liverpool fans had a lot to say about Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz during their side’s Premier League meeting with Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

Arne Slot made a couple of changes to his XI for the clash, mainly at the back.

We saw Milos Kerkez drop to the bench in place of veteran full-back Andy Robertson.

Elsewhere, though Joe Gomez was able to make the bench, Wataru Endo started the fixture at right-back.

Ahead of the game, Liverpool knew they could gain ground on Manchester United and Chelsea in the hunt for Champions League football after both teams lost on Tuesday.

Sunderland, however, began the gameweek just three points off the Reds and with a strong home record.

Liverpool fans on Florian Wirtz and Mohamed Salah vs Sunderland

Liverpool started the tie slowly and were struggling to create meaningful chances.

However, the link-up between Wirtz and Salah in the first half did prompt a positive reaction from fans.

One fan wrote: “The link-up between Florian Wirtz and Mo Salah is great.”

A second added: “Salah’s been quite involved in terms of receiving quite often and being tidy in the final 3rd. Nice little interchange with Wirtz just now.”

“Nice link-up between Wirtz and Salah already,” echoed a third.

Another commented: “Liverpool is comfortably controlling the game. Wirtz and Salah doing well at pressing high up the pitch. Defensive line doing well at winning their duels.”

While a fifth supporter claimed: “Wirtz and Mo linking up nicely so far.”

Rate Mohamed Salah’s form since his return from AFCON

Salah has been questioned by fans since his return from AFCON, so it’s nice to see him getting some positive reaction.

Wirtz, meanwhile, continues to impress along with Hugo Ekitike in the Reds’ frontline.

If the summer signings are able to start forming more meaningful link-up with Salah moving forward, it could be huge for Liverpool’s Champions League hopes.

They would go three points behind Manchester United with a win on Wednesday.
